Postcards: Tips and Tricks
Tips
- Don't put anything that you REALLY want on your postcard (like text) outside the bleed line.
- If you put text right on the bleed line, it's entirely possible that it will end up right on the very very edge of your postcard. If you're not going to like how that looks, back away from the bleed line.
- PROOF YOUR POSTCARDS!! (Click that little button in the upper left of the editor to see the rendered PDF.)
- Beware long merge field data. See the FAQ below.
- Gradients tend to look cheesy. Avoid. Unless you're totally into gradients and stuff, in which case, knock yourself out.
- Allow plenty of time for postcards to arrive. Expect 7 days from when they're ordered, give or take 3 days. We hate hearing about people sending out postcard invitations 5 days before an event, only to find they arrive the day after... postcards are great, but no one ever accused the United States Post Office of being too fast.
Tricks
- Obviously, use PURLs to track.
- Follow-up not only with people who fill out your forms, but also with folks who visit your landing pages but leave. If they're interested enough to grab your postcard out of their stack of mail, walk over to their computer and type in their PURL, they're worth a little extra-special, follow-up love. See who's visiting your PURLs by creating a group in the Contacts Tab with the criteria 'Has visited PURL.'
