Video: Using PURLs in my Marketing Pieces (4:32)
|
PURLs, or Personal Uniform Resource Locators, are just what they sound like…URLs with the contact’s name right in it (e.g., jane.reply.yourpurlpage.com). As you can imagine, people love seeing their own name, and when they see it in a URL, curiosity takes over and they just have to go check it out. Plus, PURLs allow you to track the response to your campaign down to the specific person…for instance when Jane visits jane.reply.yourpurlpage.com, you’ll know about it, even if she doesn’t fill out a form…so you’ll see exactly what kind of traffic your postcards and emails are causing. PURLs can be added to your postcards and emails.
A PURL points to (or links to, if in an email) a landing page. This can be one that you’re creating in SendPepper, OR to a landing page on your own site. We’ve created a video that will show you about all the options for hosting landing pages and PURLs. You can watch it here.
Once you’ve created a landing page, you’ll have the ability to use PURLs in your marketing pieces for that page. It’s terribly simple to use PURLs in your marketing pieces. To do so, just click the drop down menu for 'merge fields' just like you would to merge someone's [First Name], then scroll to the bottom, and choose the PURL for the page you’d like to send people to, and it will automatically be populated with each person’s first name who receives that piece.
PURLs can also be used with prints you’re having fulfilled by your own vendor, separate from SendPepper or OfficeAutopilot. It’s simple! You can do it when you export a list of contacts. When you’re selecting which fields you want exported, you’ll have the choice of which PURLs you want exported as well. Select which one, and finish your export as normal! OfficeAutopilot customers can also do it as part of a fulfillment list, either within a sequence, or outside of a sequence in the Fulfillment list manager in the admin menu.
