Adding SmartForms to your Site
One of the greatest - and simplest - advantages of the Internet is that prospects can contact you and request information or a call back at any time, on their own schedule—by filling out a form. Your online ‘brochure’ is available 24/7, every day of the year. It’s wise to make it very easy for a prospect to contact you. One of the mistakes often made by marketers more familiar with traditional advertising, like print ads, direct mail, etc… is neglecting to offer anything but a phone number on their website.
SendPepper and OfficeAutopilot allow you to create very intelligent web forms – SmartForms – that you can quickly add to your website. What makes our forms ‘smart’ is that they can be set up to add tags to the contact as soon as he or she clicks ‘submit’ and even to drop them right into your pre-designed marketing sequences, or route them to someone on your team of salespeople, automatically!
Example: A prospect visits Billy’s website, USolar.com, and fills out a form, leaving his Name, E-mail, and Phone Number. The form promises to give the prospect access to a free resource (an article on the top 10 reasons to go solar). This triggers several actions all at once:
1. The visitor is sent an email with the special link to your resources page.
2. The prospect’s contact information is entered into Billy’s SendPepper database.
3. Because the contact requested the article “The Top 10 Reasons to go to Solar”, Billy can safely assume that this person is interested in solar energy products . So the new contact is automatically tagged as “interested in Solar Energy Products.”
4. The prospect is automatically subscribed to a series of pre-written emails and postcards (if the prospect left his mailing address), sent out over the next 12 months, which addresses the prospect’s interest and educates the prospect about Solar Energy Products. These messages are of course, automatically personalized with the prospect’s name (Hi Sarah, Thought you might like to see this…) and any other pertinent personal information that Billy has collected and wishes to include in the messages.
5. Since the prospect left her phone number, Billy’s assistant or sales person is sent a task to call the person to answer any questions she’s got and to perhaps even close the sale.
You’re going to want to exchange the forms on your site with OfficeAutopilot SmartForms, or, if you don’t yet have any forms on your site, you’ll want to add them now. To do this, you’ll first need to create the forms using the SmartForms system. It’s quick and intuitive. Learn all about how to create and post SmartForms on your site. Or, if you chose to take us up on our Quick Start Integration, you were entitled to have us build one SmartForm and place it on your site FOR YOU. However, many of our customers have a need for several different kinds of forms and the SmartForm manager is where you'll create those.

Adding Tracking Scripts to your Website
You’ll want to add a few lines of SendPepper code to each page on your website so the system can track visitors as they come and go. More specifically, our tracking script allows you to see what page a user has landed on and what pages they’ve browsed and for how long; giving you a clear picture of what each user is interested in so you can tailor your communication with every individual accordingly. Want to get super 007? This feature allows you to see when someone’s on your site, so you can email or call them instantly to close the deal or further discuss their needs. This is what allows SendPepper for the iPhone and our SendPepper Google gadget to give you reporting on who is visiting your website.
Here’s how you do it:
-
Click the 'Admin' link in the upper right of the screen.
-
Scroll down and click the 'Manage Domain Names' link.
-
You’ll see a brown bar that says ‘Tracked Domains’. On the very right of that bar, there’s a link that says ‘+ Add Tracked Domain.’
-
Click that.
-
Type in the URL of your main website. (That is, www.) Note that you can track as many sites as you like with your account..yoursite.com
-
Click ‘Track this Domain.’
-
You’ll be taken back to the 'Tracked Domains' page. Your site will now be shown in the list. To the right of your site will be a link that says ‘View Tracking Script.’
-
Click that link.
-
Then you’ll want to copy the script EXACTLY as it is onto EVERY page of your website. You’ll need to get access to the HTML of your site for this step. Put the script RIGHT AFTER the first place you see <body> tag on each page. If you don’t know how to do this and you don’t have a web person who can take care of this for you, let us know and we’ll handle it for you.
